Nearly 1,800 athletes participated in the Quang Binh Discovery Marathon 2021, which took place at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park on March 21 after being cancelled twice due to COVID-19 pandemic. |
The participants competed in five different categories of 42km (full marathon), 21km (half marathon), 14km, 7km, and 3km, passing through the most famous scenic landscapes in Quang Binh Province such as the Botanical Garden, Ozo Park, Tra Ang Bridge, and Mooc Spring. The event was jointly held by the New Race Joint Stock Company and the Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee. It marked the restart of a series of tourist activities in Quang Binh in 2021, which aim to promote the tourism potential and advantages as well as biodiversity and beautiful landscapes of Quang Binh, especially Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, to visitors. Dubbed the “Kingdom of Caves”, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park was declared a World Natural Heritage by UNESCO twice, in July 2003 and July 2015, thanks to its impressive scenery and archaeological value.
